We are now less than a week away from Ohio State’s annual Spring Game. The annual mark of the conclusion of the spring practice period, Saturday’s scrimmage will be the first chance to see this new group of Buckeyes in live action.
While the players have been getting their work in on the field, Ryan Day and the coaching staff have been busy off the field and on the recruiting trail. Ohio State has seen a ton of prospects across a variety of recruiting cycles walk through the doors of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center over the past few weeks, and one of them is on the brink of his decision.
Four-star 2027 tight end **Grant Haviland** has announced that he intends to make his commitment this Tuesday, April, 14, and Ohio State is one of his potential suitors. The Buckeyes are in the mix among a group that also includes Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
NEWS: Four-Star TE Grant Haviland will announce his Commitment April 14th, he tells me for @Rivals⁰⁰The No. 2 TE in the Peach State will choose between Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt

Haviland ranks as the No. 13 TE and the No. 274 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite. Hailing out of Alpharetta, Georgia, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound tight end has accumulated more than 40 offers before trimming down his list as he prepares to make his decision.
While there are currently no Crystal Ball predictions in for Haviland, Ohio State must like where it stands after being the Peach State native’s final visit. Making trips to Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt as well, Haviland’s trek to Columbus during the last week in March was his final stop prior to announcing his commitment plans.
Of course, it is tough to rule out the in-state Bulldogs as well, as Georgia had been the projected leader in his recruitment early in the process, according to On3’s Prediction Machine. Haviland has played his recruitment pretty close to the vest, so it is anyone’s guest as to where he will end up come Tuesday.
Position coach Keenan Bailey would love to add Haviland to Ohio State’s No. 4-ranked 2027 recruiting class, which is still searching for its first tight end commitment, but we will have to wait and see.
Visits on visits on visits
As mentioned, this spring practice window has given Ohio State a bunch of chances to host recruits from all across the nation to watch the current group of Buckeyes gear up for another national title run. It was more of the same over the weekend, as players flocked to Columbus to see all that the program has in store.
Here are just some of the guys who made the trip to campus over the last few days…
I had an amazing visit at Ohio State today! Huge thanks to @N\_Murph and @Coach\_Hankton for the invite and the rest of the @OhioStateFB staff for their hospitality!
Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen sent out a new offer over the weekend to 2028 offensive tackle **Declan Heying**. An Iowa native, Heying already stands at 6-foot-5, 270 pounds despite being just a high school junior. Heying is not yet ranked in the 2028 class, but already holds double-digit offers from the likes of Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee and more.
#AGTG, after a great visit and conversation with Coach @TylerBowen, I’m blessed to receive an Offer from THE Ohio state University
