Ohio Stateâs womenâs lacrosse team closes out their regular season schedule today when they host the third-ranked Maryland Terrapins. The Buckeyes enter this afternoonâs contest riding a two-game winning streak, while Maryland has lost their last two games, which are their first two losses of the season.
Saturdayâs contest will not only be Kids Day at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium, it is also Alumni Day. Those who canât attend the regular season finale can watch the game between the Buckeyes and Terrapins on BTN, starting at 4 p.m.
Last Saturday Ohio State played their final road game of the regular season, a thrilling 11-10 win over USC in double overtime.
The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter before the Buckeyes reeled off five unanswered goals. Camryn Callaghan and Annie Hargraves combined for all five goals with Callaghan recording a hat trick in the first quarter.
USC responded with two goals before Callaghan netted her fourth goal of the game, followed by Maddy Paz scoring just before halftime, as Ohio State took a 7-4 lead into the break. The Trojans would dominate the third quarter, tying the score 7-7 after three unanswered goals.
The Buckeyes would restore their three-goal lead with tallies from Hargraves, Zoe Coleman, and Kampbell Stone to give Ohio State a 10-7 lead with 3:42 left in regulation.
The Buckeyes werenât able to make the lead stick, as USC scored three goals in just over two minutes, tying the game on a Kaylee Fravert goal with 14 seconds left. Following a scoreless first overtime period, Kampbell Stone won the game for Ohio State with 2:30 left in the second overtime.
The win was the first by the Buckeyes in four meetings with the Trojans.
On Wednesday the Buckeyes played their final non-conference game of the season, hosting in-state foe Kent State. Ohio State didnât have nearly as much trouble with the Golden Flashes as they did the Trojans, recording a 17-6 victory.
The Buckeyes jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Zoe Coleman, Kampbell Stone, and Kate Tyack. Camryn Callaghan got in on the fun in the second quarter with two goals to push Ohio Stateâs lead to 8-3 at halftime.
The game starts at 4 p.m. today.
Ohio State is currently on a two-game winning streak.
Today's game is the regular season finale and features Kids Day and Alumni Day.

Ohio State would continue their offensive onslaught in the second half, netting nine more goals. Kate Tyack recorded with four goals and four assists, finishing with a career-high eight points. Camryn Callaghan matched Tyack with four goals, and Zoe Coleman had three goals in the blowout victory.
Coleman now has 100 points in her college career.
After three seasons at Cincinnati, Camryn Callaghan hasnât missed a beat after transferring to Ohio State. With a team-high 43 goals this season, Callaghan now has surpassed 200 goals in her college career, and a 30-game point streak.
Callaghanâs 55 points this season are second on the team, only trailing Kate Tyack, who has 64 points on 36 goals and 27 assists.
Beyond Tyack and Callaghan, Ohio State has a bunch of scoring depth. Maddy Paz, Zoe Coleman, Annie Hargraves, Kampbell Stone, and Brooke Vinson all have netted at least 15 goals this season. The Buckeyes have outscored their opponents 203-152 this season.
When their offense is clicking and Jocelyn Torres is on her game in goal, Ohio State could be a very tough out in the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
Todayâs game against Maryland will provide a good indication of where the Buckeyes stand ahead of postseason play. Ohio State will have to be aware of where Lauren Lapointe is at all times, as she has 50 goals this season for the Terrapins.
A win over Maryland could provide even more momentum for Ohio State before the Big Ten Tournament, which begins with quarterfinal games on Wednesday in Ann Arbor.
