After taking game one two nights ago, the Kitchener Rangers entered game two looking to take a 2-0 series lead with them to Barrie.
The first period went the way of the visitors, with Brad Gardiner beating Christian Kirsch late in the first to give the Colts a lead heading into the break.
It would be Gabe Chiarot that equalized just after the halfway point of the second, but Barrie had the lead back just over a minute later. Ben Wilmott sent a gorgeous pass to a streaking Emil Hemming, who finished past Kirsch to give the visitors the lead right back.
That 2-1 scoreline would hold through to the intermission, but not much after that. Cole Campbell's shorthanded tally just 28 seconds into the third tied the game at two, and as the seconds ticked by, it seemed like that scoreline would hold to overtime.
But, on a power play after a pretty bad Kashawn Aitcheson penalty, Christian Humphreys absolutely sniped one past Ben Hrebik, and sent the Aud into a rapture with just 2:26 left on the clock.
However, just 13 seconds later, Chiarot went to the box with a double minor for high-sticking, effectively putting the Colts on the power play for the rest of the game as they pushed for an equalizer.
They used nearly every bit of that time, but as Kitchener couldn't clear with under 10 seconds to go, a rebound bounced to Aitcheson at the side of the goal, and he pounded it home to tie the game at three and send it to overtime.
The extra frame was a shooting gallery for the Rangers, who put 20 shots towards Hrebik in OT. The final one of those was a Matthew Andonovski one time bomb that found the net, and gave Kitchener a 2-0 lead as the series shifts to Barrie.
Hrebik made 55 saves in the loss, while Kirsch made 30 to pick up his 14th win of the postseason.
