STILLWATER — Oklahoma State and Michigan State have agreed on a home-and-home football series for the 2028-29 seasons, the school announced Thursday.
The news coincides with the cancellation of OSU’s series with Alabama, which had originally been scheduled for the same seasons.
OSU will host Michigan State on Sept. 16, 2028, and make the trip to East Lansing on Sept. 15, 2029.
The Alabama series became in danger of cancellation when the Southeastern Conference made the move from eight to nine conference games per season. Alabama already had four non-conference games scheduled for 2028, and had Notre Dame on the schedule for 2029.
So cancelling the OSU series was the easiest method for Alabama to balance out its schedule.
Replacing the Crimson Tide with Michigan State keeps the Cowboys with a Power Four opponent on the schedule for eight of the next 10 seasons. The only gap remains in 2030-31.
OSU hosts Oregon this year, then has Arkansas on the schedule in 2027 and 2032-33, with Nebraska in 2034-35.
