Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding expresses confusion over how other coaches manage to spend excessive time on social media while fulfilling their coaching duties. He emphasizes the importance of focusing on his responsibilities rather than distractions.
Ole Miss' Pete Golding doesn't understand how coaches spend all day on social media
OXFORD — Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding has a reason for avoiding distractions as other coaches have made headlines for social media and playing golf.
"I'm not good enough at this job to be on (social media) all damn day and do this job," Golding said April 14. "I don't know how (other coaches) do it. More power to them. I'll learn one day. There's enough things in the building that I need to do and do at a high level."
Golding wasn't asked about one particular coach, but some come to mind.
Former Auburn coach Hugh Freeze was criticized for playing golf during the season. Former Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is particularly active on social media.

Although Golding is known for posting only shark emojis on X when Ole Miss gets a commitment, he still sees criticism, praise and other feedback directed his way online.
"Obviously I've got kids, and we've got people who work here that do all that," Golding said. "Things get brought up, or someone will send me a text message. So you definitely see certain things."
Ole Miss posted a video on April 8 of Golding hitting a ceremonial tee shot with the Ole Miss golf team. Golding, who played golf and football for Delta State, said Ole Miss golf coach Chris Malloy is one of his best friends.
"I didn't get to play," Golding said. "I hit the first shot and came on back. I can assure you if you saw my golf game you wouldn't be worried about me playing golf."
