Ole Miss transfer forward signs with Georgia basketball

The Georgia Bulldogs have signed Ole Miss transfer forward James Scott. Scott is a talented big man who will take his talents to Athens for his senior campaign in 2026, as the former Ole Miss forward should have a big role in the Dawgs’ rotation.

Scott is ranked as a four-star transfer. He helped the Rebels go 15-20 and advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals.

At 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, Scott drew interest from many teams around the SEC prior to his Georgia commitment. The forward was one of the Rebels’ top defensive players last year, as Scott averaged 1.3 blocks and 0.5 steals per game throughout his one and only season in Oxford. The senior has proven to be extremely reliable throughout his collegiate career, as Scott has yet to miss a single game across his first three seasons of college basketball.

Before coming to Ole Miss, Scott played at College of Charleston and Louisville for one season at each program.

Scott averaged 3.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game over 35 appearances at Ole Miss last season. He was ranked as the No. 31 center and the No. 200 overall player from the class of 2023, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Scott could excel on both ends of the floor throughout his time with the Bulldogs in 2026, as Georgia continues to reshape the roster following a plethora of departures in the transfer portal.

Georgia has added some serious size this offseason after losing big men Justin Abson, Somto Cyril and Jackson McVey. The Dawgs recently signed former St. Bonaventure center Andrew Osasuyi, while also signing NBA Academy 7-footer David Ugonna.
