Olise deal impossible: Liverpool want two other forwards instead

Mohamed Salah’s departure from Liverpool is about to open up a huge gap on the right side of the attack.

The Egyptian King, 33, has established himself as one of the world’s best attackers throughout his time at Anfield. His departure will be a big blow - with Salah still the reigning Premier League player of the year.

But having fallen out with Arne Slot the club reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early. When he goes it’s going to require one of the best attacking talents in the world to come in and replace him.

According to a report in Marca Liverpool have looked at Michael Olise as their No1 choice to occupy that right flank. The Bayern Munich winger has increased his reputation tenfold since moving to the Bundesliga giants from Crystal Palace in 2024.

Under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2029.

Olise deal impossible

Indeed the Marca report concludes that the French international’s signing is “impossible” in the eyes of the decision-makers at Anfield.

And - therefore - two alternative names for a winger arrival at Anfield are now in the mix.

Bradley Barcola may well be a more achievable target than Olise. Under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028 the France star has dropped out of Luis Enrique’s preferred starting lineup.

And with PSG eyeing up new winger arrivals of their own the Ligue 1 giants may well be open to doing business over the 23-year-old - who can play either side of the attack.

Barcola and Diomande are wanted instead

The other one-v-one specialist under consideration is Yan Diomande, 19.

Having risen rapidly since signing for RB Leipzig last summer it has been speculated that the Bundesliga outfit would cash in this summer if the right bid came in.

Red Bull are looking for something in the region of €100m (£87m) for their Ivorian superstar - who is under contract until 2030.

Diomande has been one of the stars of the European season - having made an under-the-radar move from Leganes back in 2025. He cost only £18m - an unbelievable deal - and is now proving himself worthy of a team of even higher regard.

Liverpool may struggle to match Red Bull’s valuation and the Germans are even planning to keep Diomande in their energy drink empire for one more season.
