Olivier Pantaloni and Bruno Genesio potential candidates for Toulouse job

Carles Martínez Novell has established Toulouse FC as a midtable club in Ligue 1, one that can look up the table rather than looking over its shoulder. As his side prepare to face RC Lens in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France on Tuesday night, there are, however, questions regarding the Spaniard’s future, L’Équipeunderstands. Contingency planning is already underway.

Martínez Novell arrived back in 2023, replacing Philippe Montanier, but his contract is up in the summer. The Spaniard is not necessarily convinced that his future lies with Le TéFéCé.There is expected to be another squad overhaul in the summer. Having to rejuvenate the squad so frequently is eliciting a form of “weariness”,L’Équipeunderstands.

Should he leave, replacements are being lined up. Olivier Pantaloni has done excellent work at FC Lorient but will leave the Breton club at the end of the campaign, upon the expiry of his deal. Bruno Genesio is also a target, although Toulouse understand that he may be outside of their budget. The Frenchman’s contract at Lille OSC is also up at the end of the season.

There is also the possibility of another internal promotion. Jordan Galtier, son of Christophe, is currently an assistant manager at Toulouse. He has ambitions on becoming a first-team manager, be that at The Stadium or elsewhere.
