Joao Cancelo made history by winning La Liga with FC Barcelona on Sunday night, becoming the only player to win five of Europeâs major domestic league titles.
Signed on loan from Al Hilal during the January transfer window, the 31-year-old has become an integral member of this Barcelona outfit.
Naturally, the Catalans are working to sign him permanently and Cancelo, for his part, is also very eager to continue, as he has revealed on multiple occasions.
Speaking to the media after last nightâs win over Real Madrid and the subsequent league title celebrations, Cancelo hit out at Al Hilal, claiming that the Saudi Arabian club had misled him.
âAt Al Hilal, unfortunately, there were people who didnât tell me the truth. They told me they were going to register me for the Saudi league, and then, when the time came, they didnât. And Iâm always the one who ends up looking like the bad guyâŠ,â he said.
âBut at least I keep my word; I wouldnât change that for anything in the world. Iâve always been the same person. Iâm straightforward. I donât hold a grudge against anyone,â Cancelo added.

Cancelo also stressed that he knows exactly what he wants for his future, but is keeping it private so as not to interfere with negotiations.
