Through the first two days of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions addressed a couple of needs, selecting Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller and Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore on Thursday and Friday, respectively. There's a path for each player to contribute significantly in Year 1, and both have long-term upside.
Lions GM Brad Holmes is entering Saturday with another six picks to work with, including choices at Nos. 118, 157, 181, 205, 213 and 222. Holmes, who never has made more than four picks after Round 3 in any of his previous drafts in Detroit, is sure to maneuver the board in an effort to maximize value.
Here's one prospect at every position for the Lions to consider on Day 3.
▶ Quarterback: Cole Payton, North Dakota State. Payton (6-foot-2⅝, 232 pounds) patiently waited his turn with the Bison, serving as a backup from 2021-24 before becoming the starter in 2025 and leading NDSU to a 12-1 record. He finished third in voting for the Walter Payton Award (the Heisman Trophy for FCS players), completing 71.9% of his passes for 2,719 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also rushed for 777 yards and 13 scores.

▶ Tight end: DJ Rogers, TCU. Rogers (6-3⅞, 258) would be a developmental option. He started only one year at TCU (319 yards and two TDs on 34 catches in 2025) but has solid athleticism for someone of his size, especially as a lateral mover; his results in the three-cone drill (7.03 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (4.33) at TCU's Pro Day in March would've ranked first and tied for second at the combine, respectively.
Also to watch: Dallen Bentley, Utah
▶ Offensive tackle: Isaiah World, Oregon. World (6-5½, 323) spent his first four seasons in college at Nevada (2021-24) before transferring to Oregon (2025), where he helped the Ducks reach the College Football Playoff. World was dependable in his fifth year (18 pressures allowed on 437 snaps as a pass blocker) but he reportedly tore his ACL in a loss to Indiana on Jan. 9.
Also to watch: Fa’alili Fa’amoe, Wake Forest
▶ Interior offensive line: Connor Lew, Auburn. Another prospect who's coming off a knee injury, Lew (6-3½, 210 pounds) tore his ACL in October 2025. Lew, who started 25 games at center over three seasons with the Tigers, said at the combine he expects to be ready for his first NFL training camp. Over his final two seasons at Auburn(19 appearances), Lew allowed 13 pressures and three sacks.

▶ Edge defender: Dani Dennis-Sutton, Penn State. The climb has been consistent for Dennis-Sutton (6-5⅝, 256), who saw his defensive snaps and pressures increase year-over-year at Penn State, culminating in a senior campaign that included 51 pressures, 8½ sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Dennis-Sutton entered Saturday as the No. 3 player on Dane Brugler's list of available prospects at The Athletic.

▶ Defensive tackle: Gracen Halton, Oklahoma. Halton (6-2⅝, 293) became a rotational defensive lineman and spot starter for the Sooners in 2024, and he continued in that role as a senior in 2025. Over the last two seasons, Halton had 13 tackles for loss, 8½ sacks, 59 pressures and 35 defensive stops. He made some noise the Senior Bowl in February, using his quickness to get into the backfield.

Pitt linebacker Kyle Louis (9) could be a replacement for former Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone, thanks to his skills in pass coverage.
▶ Linebacker: Kyle Louis, Pitt. A dynamic defender at Pitt, Louis (5-11⅞, 220) played the star position, which is essentially a cross between a linebacker and safety. Whoever drafts Louis will need a plan for how to best use his talents, as he's better against the pass than he is the run, though don't underestimate him in the latter. Louis could help the Lions replace Alex Anzalone.
Also to watch: Jimmy Rolder, Michigan
▶ Cornerback: Jermod McCoy, Tennessee. Unfortunately, McCoy (6-0¾, 188) has tumbled down the board further than expected. It appears the talented cornerback's injured knee is a real concern for teams; it's been reported McCoy, who didn't play in 2025 because of a torn ACL, could need surgery to repair an issue related the cartilage in his knee.
Also to watch: Charles Demmings, Stephen F. Austin
▶ Safety: Bishop Fitzgerald, USC. Fitzgerald (5-11, 201) was consistently around the ball at North Carolina (2023-24) and USC (2025), collecting 14 pass deflections and 10 interceptions. Fitzgerald, with a passer rating against of 84.9, was a consensus All-American last season. He began at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas from 2021-22 before he transferred to UNC.
