The former Old Trafford midfielder appeared on The Overlap Fan Debate and questioned whether our captain deserves to be considered among the all-time Premier League greats.
During the discussion, supporters suggested the Dutch defender should be included in an all-time Premier League XI, only for Scholes to push back on the idea.
The ex-England international said: âVan Dijkâs only done it at top level for the last four or five years.â
After realising how long the centre-back has actually been at Anfield, the former midfielder doubled down with another swipe, adding: âHe hasnât been world class the last two years. Heâs dropped off a bit though.â
Itâs a claim many Liverpool supporters will understandably find bizarre considering the 34-year-oldâs achievements since arriving from Southampton in January 2018.
