The Baltimore Orioles are an even 10-10 on the season, and there has been some frustration from a few of the new faces on the team.
But one of the biggest letdowns so far this year has been the production of veteran right-hander Kyle Bradish. He's off to a rough start this season, despite the lofty expectations to begin the season.
With such a rough start to 2026, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter named Bradish as one of MLB's most "overhyped" stars this season. With a 5.49 ERA to begin the year compared to the Cy-Young-caliber hype, it's hard to argue with this "overhyped" sentiment.
"The O's settled for Shane Baz and Chris Bassitt as their biggest rotation additions, banking on full seasons of Bradish and Trevor Rogers elevating the staff to another level," Reuter writes. "Instead, they rank 20th in the majors with a 4.27 ERA from their starters."
While that ranking is going to change very quickly, as the season is only 20 games in, the Orioles' lackluster ranking so far is a bit of a letdown from their pre-season expectations.
Bradish is the biggest culprit, with a 5.49 ERA across four outings this season. He's posted -0.3 bWAR on the year, with a 1-2 record.
Kyle Bradish is considered overhyped due to his poor performance, reflected in a 5.49 ERA, which falls short of the high expectations set for him.
Kyle Bradish currently has an ERA of 5.49 for the 2026 MLB season.
The Baltimore Orioles have an even record of 10-10 so far this season.

He's struggled far too much to be a Cy Young caliber pitcher, let alone a mid-rotation arm at this rate this season. Bradish is off to a bad start this season, and his struggles have made the whole rotation worse.
He could turn things around and have a good season overall. But, as things currently stand, Bradish has not lived up to his expectations at all.
Add in that Bassitt and Baz haven't been great either, and the injury to Zach Eflin, and it's hard not to feel like the Orioles missed an opportunity to land a better starter for their rotation this offseason.
