Baltimore Orioles manager Craig Albernaz is enjoying a homecoming in Cleveland. Albernaz was a member of the Cleveland Guardians coaching staff, beginning as bench coach before being promoted to assistant manager, during the 2024 and 2025 MLB seasons. The Orioles are in town for a four game series against the Guardians from April 16-20.
The rookie manager was welcomed back with a prank courtesy of Guardians manager Stephen Vogt.

Albernaz, 43, was shocked when he walked into unfamiliar territory in the visiting managerās office at Progressive Field.
The traditional office furniture was gone. It was replaced by kidsā sized desk and chairs, a Spider Man shower curtain, and Bluey stuff.

The office prank was the second shock for Albernaz this week in what has been a trying one. On Monday night, he was hit in the dugout by a foul ball off of the bat of Jeremiah Jackson.
The specifics of the prank are not detailed, but it was a playful welcome back for the Orioles manager.

The 70 mph fly ball hit the right side of his face. Albernaz quietly went into the dugout briefly and returned to watch Jackson hit a grand slam and a homerun in the Orioles massive come-from-behind win.
Jackson gave Albernaz the autographed grand slam ball with the note: āSorry homie.ā
Albernaz later revealed he suffered a broken jaw and at least six cheek fractures. Known to pitch batting practice, Albernaz is forbidden from doing that for six weeks along with other strenuous activity, and he will be on a soft food diet that he joked will be worse than his two-year-old daughter Gigiās.
The 9-9 Orioles are trying to keep pace in a tight AL East race with the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees who are 10-7 and 10-9 respectively.
Like last year, injuries are already an issue with the Orioles having double digit players on the IL in the first month of the season.
