The Baltimore Orioles have been dealt a few tough injuries to their pitching staff this season, with Trevor Rogers banged up, Dean Kramer on the injured list, and both Zach Eflin and Cade Povich out for the season.
But the closer role for the team has also dealt with two big issues. Fleix Bautista was always going to miss all of 2026, but the injury to Ryan Helsley is a tough blow. Fortunately, they have a great reliever in Rico Garcia to take over.
And as Just Baseball Media's @bsblwithpeyton shared on Twitter/x after Garcia's Monday shutout against the New York Yankees, the Orioles reliever has made some ridiculous 1-hit MLB history that's hard to believe.

"Rico Garcia is the first pitcher in MLB history to allow at most one total hit in their first 20 appearances in a season," @bsblwithpeyton shared on Twiter/x.
Garcia has pitched in 20 games for the Orioles in the 2026 season, and 19 total innings across those outings.
In all of those outings, first on March 29th and most recently on May 11th, Garcia has allowed just one hit. That one hit? It was an eighth-inning solo homer to tie the game against the Kansas City Royals' Michael Massey.
But, other than that solo homer, no other batter has gotten a hit off Garcia this season. He's allowed a 0.47 ERA this season with a 0.42 WHIP with 22 strikeouts and seven walks.
Batters facing Garcia this season are hitting just .018. That's a ridiculous figure, which makes this hard-to-believe feat of MLB history a bit more believable.
The former New York Mets reliever has been awesome for the Orioles this season. He's allowed just one hit in 20 games this season, as the 32-year-old righty reliever is having a breakout season for the ages.
