On Saturday night, the Baltimore Orioles welcome the San Francisco Giants into Camden Yards for the second match of their three-game series against each other. The opening match was on Friday night and saw Baltimore drop 3-6, despite a bottom-of-the-ninth offensive surge.
To put it simply, the Orioles were just out-hit, as only two players on San Francisco’s team would end the match without a hit to their name.
For Baltimore, they had a few notable performers, including Adley Rutschman, who got on base three times during Friday night’s match, out of his five at-bats, making it his third multi-hit performance of the season.
While the Orioles’ catcher was a present figure in the opening match of the set, it appears that he won’t be in the starting lineup on Saturday night, as he was scratched prior to the first pitch due to left ankle soreness, as reported by MLB.com’s Jake Rill.
Rutschman has been an integral part of the Orioles’ lineup this season, hitting with a .294 batting average, which has resulted in three RBIs.
In the 28-year-old’s place will sit Samuel Bassalo, who has been another consistent figure for Baltimore this season. In his nine appearances, the Dominican utilityman is slashing .152/.263/.242, with a single home run and RBI to his name.
First pitch between the Orioles and Giants is slated for 7:15 p.m. EST.
