The Green Bay Packers are hosting Texas Tech defensive tackle Lee Hunter on an official pre-draft visit on Wednesday. Hunter posted a photo inside the Packers' facility from his official Instagram account on Wednesday morning.
Hunter, a second-team All-American and one of the leaders of Texas Tech's dominant defense in 2025, is a possible Day 2 option for the Packers, who need help along the defensive front.
Hunter, a UCF transfer, produced 42 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks during his lone season at Texas Tech last season. Per PFF, he tallied 26 pressures and 25 stops. He finished his career, which included two years starting at UCF, with 32.5 tackles for loss, 81 pressures, 8.0 sacks and 94 stops over 1,800 career snaps.
Hunter measured 6-3 and 318 pounds at the combine, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.18 seconds, hit 21.5" in the vertical leap and covered 8-4 in the broad jump -- disappointing numbers. His Relative Athletic Score is 4.12, one of the worst among the players ranked in the top 50 on the consensus big board. Hunter currently ranks No. 49.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic projects Hunter to be a second- or third-round selection.
From Brugler's draft guide: "With light feet for a big guy, Hunter offers a balanced blend of strength, length and movements. He can post up on run downs and shut down A-gaps, while also flashing the lateral range to make more plays away from his square than your average nose. He is naturally strong, although high pads and a narrow base can take away from his power supply. He is limited on passing downs and is more of a slow-burn pocket pusher than a man with a plan. Overall, Hunter doesnāt have the pass-rush skill set to consistently impact the quarterback, but he is instinctive as a run defender and has heavy hands to make stops at the line of scrimmage. He projects as a scheme-diverse, two-gapping nose."
Per PFF, Hunter lined up both against both the A gap and B gap, potentially giving him multi-position versatility in the 3-4 front. Given his size and power, Hunter would provide an attractive option on the nose, where the Packers have a glaring need.
