Mel Kiper Jr. predicts the Green Bay Packers will select Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell with the 52nd pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Despite a hamstring injury affecting his speed, Terrell is noted for his playmaking ability and could start in his rookie season.

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. has released his final mock draft of the 2026 cycle, which includes a second round so Green Bay Packers fans can get in on the action. Kiper has the Packers taking Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell, which would have seemed unimaginable a couple of months ago. Here’s what Kiper had to say about the selection at #52:
Terrell is dealing with a hamstring injury at the moment, but he is a consistent man-to-man corner with plenty of speed. He makes plays on the ball, and he had eight forced fumbles over the past two seasons, including five in 2025. He could potentially start for the Packers in Year 1.
Terrell, who was once thought to be a top-20 lock, measured in at 5’11” and 186 pounds at the NFL scouting combine but was unable to run in Indianapolis or at Clemson’s pro day due to his hamstring issue. He had a private pro day on March 30th, three weeks after the Tigers’ pro day, where he ran the 40-yard dash. Unfortunately, he pulled up with a hamstring flare-up again after about 20 yards, per sources in the scouting community, so he was timed at 4.67 seconds on paper. In reality, his speed is a question mark, as is the status of his hamstring.
As shown on his RAS table, Terrell started fairly well to start the 40 before falling off around the 20-yard mark, which matches what scouts state happened on his attempt.
Terrell is the brother of A.J. Terrell, a 2020 first-round pick who has been named as an All-Pro cornerback with the Atlanta Falcons. Running is usually a family business for the Terrells, as he has two sisters who ran track at the college level, including one (Ariel) who earned a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the junior Olympics level.
In his two years as a starter, Terrell was named an All-ACC cornerback in back-to-back years. He has 25 PBUs and three interceptions from his college days, which were cut short when he declared after just three seasons at Clemson. He just turned 21 years old in January.
Mel Kiper predicts that the Packers will select Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell with the 52nd overall pick.
Avieon Terrell's speed is a concern due to a hamstring injury that prevented him from running at the NFL scouting combine and during his pro day, resulting in a timed 40-yard dash of 4.67 seconds.
Avieon Terrell had eight forced fumbles over the past two seasons, including five in 2025.
