The Green Bay Packers are moving on from a notable contributor after a short stint with the NFC North franchise.
According to ESPNâs Adam Schefter, who previously reported that Green Bay has released a 34-year-old Super Bowl champion, the move has now become official.
âPackers now officially have released kicker Brandon McManus,â Schefter wrote on X/Twitter Friday.
McManus, who won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos, joined Green Bay before the start of the 2024-25 season. During his first season with the Packers, McManus converted on two game-winning field goals and was among the most accurate kickers in the league (20-21 on the year).
The Temple product took a step back this past season, though, missing six field goals (24-30) in 14 games with the four-time Super Bowl champions. Although McManus proved to be less reliable with the Packers in Year 2, itâs reasonable to suggest he wonât be out of work for long.
The Hatfield, Pennsylvania, native has an impressive track record as a chip-shot, intermediate, and long-range field goal kicker. For his career, McManus boasts an 82% field goal percentage and has connected on 87 kicks from 30-39 yards, 78 kicks from 40-49 yards, and 51 kicks from 50-59 yards.
Simply put, McManus is a proven and veteran kicker who should land back on his feet sooner rather than later.
