The Green Bay Packers are considering a trade for quarterback Anthony Richardson from the Indianapolis Colts to strengthen their roster. With Jordan Love's injury history and Malik Willis leaving, the Packers are looking to enhance their quarterback options.
The Green Bay Packers are pretty happy with their starting quarterback situation. But Jordan Love has proven prone to injuries before, and with Malik Willis headed off to Miami, the franchise seems set on shoring up their quarterback room a bit further. They already made one move by signing Kyron Drones as an undrafted free agent, and they already have another target in mind.
There is still a possibility that Anthony Richardson, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, could be shipped to a new team by the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. If that comes to fruition, ESPN senior NFL writer Jeremy Fowler reports that there are multiple reasons why the Packers are one of the best fits.
"And, keep in mind, should Indy's Anthony Richardson Sr. be traded, he's looking for an extension of the McVay-Shanahan-LaFleur tree from which to learn," Fowler wrote. "Considering the success Matt LaFleur had with Malik Willis, Richardson will make sense if Green Bay has any interest.
Richardson has had an underwhelming start to his career, making 17 appearances and 15 starts for the Colts, passing for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, and posting a completion percentage of just 50.6%. But it's possible a hard reset would do Richardson well, and LaFleur's track record speaks for itself.

The Packers see Richardson as a fit due to his potential for growth under Matt LaFleur's coaching, especially after Malik Willis' success.
Richardson has played 17 games, started 15, passed for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 50.6%.
Acquiring Richardson could provide the Packers with a talented backup option and a potential future starter, addressing concerns over Jordan Love's injury history.
