Mike Vrabel remains actively involved in pre-draft meetings for the New England Patriots, according to executive vice president Eliot Wolf. Despite recent controversies, Wolf emphasized that Vrabel's contributions have increased compared to last year.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass — For Mike Vrabel, it's been "business as usual" despite the controversy that has surrounded the New England Patriots head coach.
During his pre-draft press conference on Monday afternoon, Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf was asked about how involved Vrabel has been this past week in regards to pre-draft meetings.
"Very involved," Wolf responded. "Business as usual. He’s been in there with us probably ... this round of meetings, probably a little more than last year.”
“He’s been in there, he’s been contributing, he’s watched a ton of the players. I think he tries to watch every player that - like we give each position coach - he watches that whole coaches list," Wolf added. "He has an opinion on these guys and its helpful. Sometimes there’s players that the scouts like, me included, and he’ll be like, ‘this is the reason why maybe this guy isn’t the best fit for us’ so again, we continue to compile all the information together."
This comes after Vrabel was photographed with the Athletic’s Dianna Russini at an exclusive Arizona resort, with Page Six sharing photos of the two implying a scandal.
While the head coach didn't speak with the media on Monday (which was always the case, even before this controversy began), the media were given a tour of the New Balance Athletics center where Vrabel was seen in his office.
