The New England Patriots made some big changes to their roster this offseason, starting with releasing Stefon Diggs.
Diggs will turn 33 soon and had a cap hit north of $26 million next season. The Patriots released him, and he remains unsigned. Diggs had a legal proceeding looming, but he was found not guilty of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery on Tuesday. He is now focused on trying to find a new team and made a post on Instagram outlining his abilities and what he can bring to a team.
"This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers," Diggs posted on Instagram with his highlights. "I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going?"
Diggs's post caught the attention of Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Gonzalez made it clear where he wants to see Diggs sign.
"To the Pats," Gonzalez commented in response to Diggs' question about where he was headed.
Diggs was the Patriots' leading receiver last season, and could be willing to sign a short-term deal at this point in the offseason. Now that he has been found not guilty, more teams could be interested in him. The Patriots signed this offseason and are expected to land after June 1.
The Patriots released Stefon Diggs primarily due to his high cap hit of over $26 million for the next season.
Stefon Diggs faced legal proceedings for felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery but was found not guilty.
After his release, Stefon Diggs is focused on finding a new team and has shared his abilities on Instagram to attract interest.

Adding Diggs would give them one of the best receiving trios in the NFL. However, the real question will be whether Diggs wants to re-join the Patriots, knowing he will have a much smaller role. He seems to have no resentment toward the organization, but the Patriots may not need him as much as other teams.
