ESPN's Aaron Schatz shared his insights on theNew England Patriots' most pressing roster shortcoming, pinpointing the cornerback position as the key concern.
"No starting position is a problem for the defending AFC champions, but there are areas where depth could use bolstering. Cornerback stands out behind starters Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis III and Marcus Jones," Schatz wrote on Thursday.
However, Schatz has a solution for the Patriots and believes that veteran cornerback Adoree' Jackson would be a great fit for New England.
Jackson has been in the NFL for nine years, starting his career with the Tennessee Titans, where he played for four seasons. He then moved to the New York Giants for another four years before spending last season with the Eagles.
In 111 games, Jackson has tallied a total of 459 combined tackles and five interceptions. He would be a solid addition for the Patriots, offering some healthy competition in the cornerback room during training camp.
If the Patriots don’t bring in Jackson, they’ll need to sign another free agent cornerback to avoid facing serious depth issues when the season kicks off.
