With the Penn State spring scrimmage coming up next week, head coach Matt Campbell is continuing to receive some positive news on the recruiting front. On Friday, Penn State picked up a commitment from Class of 2027 offensive lineman Owen Reilly, out of Maryland. Reilly is the first offensive lineman in Penn State's current Class of 2027.
Reilly announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions with a post on his Instagram account on Friday. Reilly is scouted as an interior offensive lineman and measures 6-3.5 and 290 pounds according to his recruiting profile from 247Sports. Reilly, rated as a three-star recruit, held scholarship offers from a number of power conference programs that included Maryland, Michigan State, Oregon, and Rutgers of the Big Ten. Other notable options for Reilly included Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
Reilly announced his commitment to Penn State just days after an unofficial visit to the campus. Reilly also visited West Virginia for a junior day event in January. Reilly was first offered by Penn State in late January of this year.
Reilly is the eighth commitment on the board for Penn State in the Class of 2027. He is the third offensive player in the group, joining wide receiver Landon Blum and tight end Cooper Terwilliger. He is the second lineman in the recruiting class, joining defensive lineman Carter Blattner.
With the addition of Reilly to the Class of 2027, Penn State now has the nation's 16th-ranked class, according to the updated rankings from 247Sports. The Nittany Lions have the Big Ten's sixth-highest-ranked class at the moment with the updated rankings after moving ahead of Wisconsin and Iowa. USC and Ohio State are still the top two schools, respectively, in the updated recruiting rankings among Big Ten programs, followed by Washington.
