Penn State guard Dominick Stewart has transferred to Richmond, becoming the fourth guard to leave the program. Stewart, a sophomore, struggled with his shooting stats at Penn State but will now join the Richmond Spiders in the A-10.
The core nucleus for the Penn State Nittany Lions' men's basketball squad has continued to separate from the program. Just hours ago, another Penn State guard in Dominick Stewart decided to transfer to Richmond to continue his collegiate career. Much like several other players transferring out of Penn State, Stewart was a sophomore who was expected to be part of Penn State's rebuild for the foreseeable future. Now, he will take his talents to the A-10.
Stewart was originally a three star recruit out of California who didn't receive many Power 4 offers, instead only getting the attention of several Group of Five schools. Still, despite visiting Butler, he decided to commit to Penn State. At first, it did not appear to be a good decision as he was in a bench role for much of his freshman season. However, he was rewarded for sticking with Rhoades, earning 24 starts across Penn State's 32 game slate.
However, a dip in form from three saw Stewart take a massive hit in stats, as he only ended up shooting 34.8 percent from deep. He also only shot 40.1 percent from the field, averaging 6.6 points per game. He will now join one of the A-10's worst team in the Richmond Spiders, who will look to climb out of the A-10 cellar.
For Penn State, this is the fourth guard that has departed the program in the portal, as Stewart joins Kayden Mingo, Freddie Dilione V, and Mason Blackwood. However, Penn State have made some portal additions to their roster, with Brant Byers of Miami(Ohio) and Robert Blums of Davidson to their squad.
