Penn State is competing for 4-star wide receiver Deshawn Hall, who has Alabama and Tennessee as his other finalists. Hall's decision may hinge on his fit within the Nittany Lions' offensive scheme.
Although the Nittany Lions may seem out of their depth in their recruiting battle for 4-star wideout Deshawn Hall, they still are in with a chance due to how well they have already recruited at the position. They have already landed such talent as Landon Blum and Jamir Dean, while also developing and supplementing players such as Koby Howard and Karon Brookins, potential future linchpins. Now, in their fight for Hall, they are officially one step closer to prying him away from the depths of the SEC.
On Wednesday, May 6, Hall announced his standout three schools with Penn State the only one in the Northeast. Alabama and Tennessee were the other two, as they look to keep Hall close to his Prattville, Alabama home. So far, what the Penn State staff has seen in Hall is that much like their current receiving corps, he is a big-bodied, physical threat at 6 foot 5 that can win on the perimeter. Still, the biggest question remains about whether or not Hall will want to head to Happy Valley to continue his career.
As the 25th ranked wide receiver in the class, Penn State may have hope that both Alabama and Tennessee will look elsewhere to find better receiver talent. In fact, if the No. 1 wideout in the class in Monshun Sales signs with the Crimson Tide, chances are Alabama could be out of the race entirely. At the end of the day, where Hall ends up could come down to schematic fit and his development process.
