Penn State has secured a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Jon Sassic for their 2027 recruiting class. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound player chose Penn State over multiple scholarship offers from other programs.
The Penn State Nittany Lions have made another addition to their 2027 recruiting class, securing a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Jon Sassic on Sunday, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.
The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder has over a dozen scholarship offers from programs across the country, but Penn State was able to convince him to stay home. It did not take long for Matt Campbell's program to land Sassic, to whom they extended a scholarship offer during a visit on March 24.
He was set to take official visits to see the NC State Wolfpack, Virginia Tech Hokies, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Pitt Panthers during the summer, but those seem unlikely to happen now that he has committed to the Nittany Lions. He does not currently have an official visit scheduled with Penn State.
Sassic is ranked as the No. 978 overall player and No. 80 interior offensive lineman in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 28 player from Pennsylvania.
He is Penn State's 10th commitment in the 2027 class and the second along the offensive line, joining three-star offensive lineman Owen Reilly. Eight of their commits have joined the class in April, with the Nittany Lions now having Rivals' No. 21 class in the country and the No. 7 class in the Big Ten
