Sean McVay's subdued reaction to drafting Ty Simpson has raised eyebrows, but Peter Schrager confirms McVay is a fan of the new quarterback. Les Snead praised Simpson, while McVay's body language suggested uncertainty.

Sean McVay and Les Snead met with the media on Thursday night after drafting Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick in Round 1. Snead spoke highly of Simpson during the press conference, but McVayâs answers were brief and his body language didnât resemble what youâd usually see from a coach who landed his next franchise QB.
Fans and analysts took notice of McVayâs lack of excitement over the pick, questioning whether he was on board with it. Peter Schrager is here to diffuse any concerns about a rift in the Ramsâ building.
He said on ESPNâs âGet Upâ that McVay likes his new quarterback.
âAs much as McVay was doing all that, trust me. McVay is a Ty Simpson fan,â Schrager affirmed.
Itâs hard to imagine McVay wasnât in lockstep with Snead on this pick. Heâs the head coach, and the two of them work incredibly closely on all things â including the draft process.
Perhaps his reaction was subdued so as not to publicly celebrate the fact that the Rams just drafted Matthew Staffordâs replacement. The Rams gave Stafford a heads-up, but maybe McVay didnât want to look too happy about drafting his heir.
And given how closely McVay works with the quarterbacks, he had to have known this is the direction the Rams were going to.

McVay's brief answers and body language during the press conference did not reflect the typical excitement expected from a coach after selecting a franchise quarterback.
Peter Schrager stated on ESPN that despite McVay's demeanor, he is indeed a fan of Ty Simpson and supports the decision to draft him.
Les Snead spoke highly of Ty Simpson during the press conference, emphasizing the team's confidence in the new quarterback.
