Cech was part of the successful Abramovich era where Chelsea were one of the best teams in the country, and won every trophy possible.
After retiring Cech worked at the club as a technical director, a role he left following the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital takeover in 2022.
Itâs an understatement to say Chelsea are a different club now, and things are done very differently under this ownership.
Recruitment is heavily focused on signing young talents who are placed on long contracts, with players moved on very quickly.
Success on the pitch has been lacking over the last four years, although Enzo Maresca did win two trophies and get the club back in the Champions League last season.
However, Chelsea currently sit ninth in the league, and are on course to miss out on the Champions League for the third time in four seasons.
Fans donât recognise the club anymore and have protested against the ownership, and Cech also feels the club is different.
âItâs different,â he told The Athletic.
Petr Cech stated that Chelsea is 'completely different' now and that comparisons to the Abramovich era are not valid.
Cech feels that Chelsea cannot be compared to the successful Abramovich days, indicating a significant change in the club's status.
During the Abramovich era, Chelsea won every trophy possible and was considered one of the best teams in the country.

âMaybe if I were there on a daily basis, I would, I would see it differently.
âFrom what you see from the outside, I donât think you can compare because of the vision and the way that the club operates, how they want to do things.
âItâs completely different from how it was.â
