The beautiful Aronimink Golf Club, located in Newtown Square (just west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), is hosting the 108th edition of the PGA Championship this week. Thursday to Sunday is when it all goes down.
The weather looks to largely agree, but will it be a hole-in-one?
Long story short, as the event proceeds, the chances of rain drops, but the temperature should increase. With those increases in temperature comes an increase in humidity. Winds also shift direction but remain largely consistent in terms of speed.
Golf, like other sports, is a game of inches. All weather factors need to be taken into consideration for the golfers. The graphic below has more information.
Thursday
On the first day of this event, the weather is looking mainly good. There is a slight chance of a shower in the morning or early afternoon. Fortunately, this clears up as the afternoon progresses. The high is looking to be in the low to mid 60s, and a west-northwest wind between 10-15 mph is possible.
Friday
For Friday, the rain chances are greatly reduced, and the temperature is slightly warmer. A high in the lower 70s is expected with a northwest wind of 10-15 mph.
Saturday
The pattern of warmer temperatures continues. The high is now in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Winds also are expected to shift to come out of the west-southwest from 5-10 mph.
Sunday
The final day of the championship is also the warmest. Highs are expected to climb well into the 80s, with winds out of the west at 10-15 mph.

I love looking at notable weather impacts at sporting events, especially since it doesnāt look this way this year.
A notable year that stuck out to me was when the BMW Championship that was held at the Aronimink Golf Club in September 2018. While this is a different event, I wanted to pick the last time this course saw crazy rainfall.
And that sure happened in September 2018, when what was left of Tropical Storm Gordon got swept up by a cold front moving across the country at the time. This brought inches of rainfall to the area causing a delay of play until the next day.
Fortunately, there is no chance of a tropical system for this one, and May is one of the drier months for this part of Pennsylvania.
