Phil Foden is set to sign a new contract at Manchester City to keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030 after coming to a provisional agreement with the Carabao Cup winners.
The England international’s current deal is set to expire next summer but he will commit to a four-year deal, with an option of a further year after that.
While Foden has lost his place in the starting line-up with his form dipping during a difficult 2026, City were keen to keep their academy product, who has been on their books since he was in their under-nine side.
Foden has gone on to make 365 appearances for City, scoring 110 goals, and at the age of 25, he has already won six Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups and the 2023 Champions League.
He was named Footballer of the Year and PFA Player of the Year in 2023-24, when he scored a career-best 27 goals.
However, he has endured two difficult seasons since then and, after a burst of six goals in five games in autumn, has not scored in his last 25 appearances for City.
While City will lose captain Bernardo Silva and defender John Stones when they leave in the summer, Foden is set to join a host of players who are contracted until the 2030s, including Erling Haaland, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi, and .
