In a night that could've turned into a rainout because of the weather, it turned into a win for the Philadelphia Phillies over the Boston Red Sox, 3-1. The Phillies faced their old friend, left-hander Ranger Suarez, who pitched well after not pitching for 11 days after suffering a hamstring injury in his last start.
Ranger threw 5.1 innings, where he struck out eight and had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning. Despite the storyline of facing Suarez, the other notable note from the series finale was the apparent "sign stealing" from the Red Sox.
Phillies left-hander Jesus Luzardo, who pitched six shutout innings, has had issues with tipping in the past and appeared to be "tipping" when infielder Caleb Durbin appeared to be giving signs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Interim manager Don Mattingly addressed the sign-stealing after the game, which didn't seem to be an issue for the veteran manager.
Philadelphia Phillies Don Mattingly wasn't concerned with the Boston Red Sox stealing signs
"We obviously saw it, and I have been around enough that some of it's real, some of it just to make you think they know something," Mattingly said after the game. "And we've seen a lot of the same motions on different pitches, so it tells you they didn't really feel like they had anything. But you don't, you want your pitcher to know really that point, you don't think they have anything, because guys do get bothered if they think they got it. But that's part of the game now, it's like either you have it, or you try to make people think you have it, and so you know maybe they did have something, but we didn't really think they did."

Sign stealing caused catchers, pitchers, and a couple of the infielders to use transmitters or PitchCom to relay signs. However, that hasn't seemed to change anything, as some players still have the skill to read a pitcher and catcher from second base to get the signs.
