According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies are placing J.T. Realmuto on the injured list. Amid this seven-game losing streak, with the team desperately in need of offensive firepower, this is bad news at the worst possible time.
"The Phillies, losers of seven straight and owners of the worst run differential in MLB, will be without their starting catcher for at least 10 days," Gelb writes. "J.T. Realmuto will go on the injured list with a lower back injury, league sources told The Athletic."
This is some terrible news for the Phillies, as they're now losing their starting catcher in the middle of a brutal seven-game losing streak.
Jhoan Duran also landed on the injured list a few days ago, and while Zack Wheeler's set to return soon, the team is still in the net negative when it comes to their health this year.
To fill the void at catcher, and will split time behind the plate for the Phillies.
