For a very long time, the Philadelphia Phillies fanbase has been wishing that their team could somehow find a way to trade for Mike Trout to join their MLB roster.
It hasn't been possible lately, especially since Trout has struggled and wouldn't be remotely worth the high cost to acquire him. But his resurgence this year has made things a bit more interesting.
Keith Law of The Athletic named the Phillies as the most obvious landing spot for Trout in his article explaining why the Los Angeles Angels should trade Trout right now. There's a path for the Phillies to acquire Trout, and it's not unrealistic at all.
"The most obvious trade partner is the Phillies," Law writes, "... but I could see the Phillies parting with one of Justin Crawford or Dante Nori, both outfielders, along with some prospects from their low minors, perhaps even right-handed Gage Wood, who is throwing well in Low A as a college product."
The exact cost is not specified, but Trout's resurgence has made him a more valuable trade target for the Phillies.
Experts, including Keith Law, believe the Phillies are the most obvious landing spot for Trout due to their ongoing interest and his recent performance improvements.
Trout has shown signs of resurgence this year, making him a more appealing option for teams considering a trade.

The Phillies fanbase would surely love for their team to acquire Trout, and this price tag speculated by Law wouldn't be that outlandish.
With Aidan Miller dealing with some back issues, he might not be the centerpiece of a trade with some long-term concerns about his availability.
Instead, moving on from either Justin Crawford or Dante Nori would make sense. Add in a few prospects, possibly even Gage Wood, who's impressed since coming to the Phillies organization last year, and there could be a trade that comes together.
Of course, it wouldn't be so simple. The Angels would need to get Trout to say yes to any trade, and with the future Hall of Famer never making it clear he wants out, he might say no to any trade.
Even though the Phillies are his local team, and he is a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, the Phillies might not be able to land him even if their proposed package would be enough.
A deal involving Andrew Painter or Aidan Miller might not come together, but Law believes there's still a path for the Phillies to land Trout without including either of those players.
It won't come cheap, either with their prospects or financially. But in win-now mode, adding someone like Trout, the right-handed hitter this team so desperately needs, would make a ton of sense.
