The Philadelphia Phillies might've begun the year on a bad note, but since Don Mattingly took over, things have gone a lot better. They're now just one game under .500.
A huge reason why they've found such success, beyond the pitching staff getting a lot better, has been the dominance of Kyle Schwarber at the plate.
And amid his latest hot streak, Sarah Langs shared on Twitter/x that Schwarber's made some home run history, just one other time in MLB history, with MLB icon Albert Belle.
"This is the second time Kyle Schwarber has had 9+ home runs in an 8-game span, also doing so in June 2021," Langs posted. "The only other player in MLB history to have such a span in multiple seasons is Albert Belle (1998 and 1995)."
Belle was a five-time All-Star who finished his 12-year career with 381 home runs. In 1998, Belle hit nine homers in eight games, and in 1995, he hit 10 homers in just seven games; both came near the end of the season.

Kyle Schwarber's dominance at the plate has significantly contributed to the Philadelphia Phillies' improved performance, bringing them closer to a .500 record.
The only other player to share this home run record with Kyle Schwarber is MLB icon Albert Belle.

Schwarber's nine homers in eight games this season are his active streak, but back in 2021, he went on an absolute tear, hitting nine homers in just six games.
Both sluggers more than clear the nine-home-runs in eight-games mark with a ridiculous performance in fewer games, and they are the only two sluggers to have two such streaks in separate seasons in a career.
This incredible hot streak for Schwarber has allowed him to reach 20 homers by May 15th, which is the earliest anyones reached such a mark in MLB history.
While he might be a little behind the all-time home run record pace, he's still putting together an elite power-hitting season.
He might be able to hit 60-plus homers this year, which would be an incredible accomplishment. And he has four-and-a-half months to do so this year.
