The Philadelphia Phillies are active in the international free agent market, signing an amateur from South Korea on Tuesday.
According to MiLB.com's Joe Doyle, the NL East club has agreed to a contract with 17-year-old pitcher Chan-min Park.
"Park (6-3, 205) is up to 94 and can really spin it," Doyle wrote on X. "He's got four pitches and a polished operation/strikes. FB, SL, CB, CH/SPL."
To finalize Park's contract, Doyle reports that the Phillies used the international bonus pool money they received in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for right-hander Griff McGarry.
Obviously, the Phillies liked Park enough to make the trade involving McGarry. At just 17, he is still years away from impacting the Major League club.
