Phillies to Have Competition for Alex Cora in MLB Offseason

There's been a lot of news coming out around Major League Baseball over the past week or so, with the Philadelphia Phillies making one of the biggest decisions.

After moving on from head coach Rob Thomson, there's certainly a lot the Phillies will have to consider over the next few weeks to months.

Currently 15-20 and in fourth place in the National League East, already 10.0 games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves, the Phillies definitely don't seem to be in a position to add anybody at the trade deadline. If anything, this seems like a great time for them to really move on from certain guys and try to fix the future of this organization.

However, according to the latest, it sounds like the Phillies are already working the phones, whether that means looking to add guys or moving on from players, considering they have multiple who would fit in very well on other contending teams.

“Dave Dombrowski, Phillies president of baseball operations, said that with so many teams with big payrolls struggling this year, trade talks have already picked up. The hottest commodity at the trade deadline is expected to be Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara and the Boston Red Sox could trade left-handed hitting outfielder Jarren Duran before the Aug. 3 deadline,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote.

Nightengale later added that there's an expectation that the Phillies are confident that Alex Cora will be their skipper in 2027.

With that in mind, it's not the worst idea to suggest that the Phillies won't move on from some of their top guys, as they want to ensure they have a good team in place to entice him to come back to coaching.
