Jhostynxon Garcia was one of the Pittsburgh Pirates' many big offseason pickups when he was acquired in a trade with the Boston Red Sox on Dec. 4.
The 2026 campaign hasn't gone as planned for "The Password" so far though.
Garcia had a big spring training but was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis in March and has gone 9-for-57 with one double, no home runs and three RBIs across 59 plate appearances covering 14 games this year.
Indianapolis then placed the 23-year-old on the seven-day injured list Friday due to a back issue.
"Jhostynxon Garcia is being placed on Triple-A Indianapolis’ injured list with lower back tightness," Pirates insider Alex Stumpf posted on Bluesky.
The specific details of Jhostynxon Garcia's injury have not been disclosed, but he has been placed on the injured list.
