The Pittsburgh Pirates are off to an electric start, their first time in years, with a record of 11-8 and tied for first in the NL Central. However, while they are in the lead, they still are one step away from being a real playoff contender.
With that in mind, getting another star to power up their roster couldnāt hurt. FanSidedās Christopher Kline predicts that if the Pirates decide to act, a trade with the Washington Nationals for their breakout All-Star, CJ Abrams, could be on the table.
āDon't look now, but the Pirates finally feel like a team with enough firepower to compete in the NL Central. Pittsburgh has a surplus of pitching and a deep farm system from which to trade. The Brandon Lowe and Ryan O'Hearn additions have already worked wonders to snap the Pirates' lineup into gear. Pair a looming Konnor Griffin breakout with an Abrams trade, presumably swapping him in for at third base, and the Buccos have the feel of a legitimate contender,ā Kline wrote.
The Pirates aim to enhance their roster and improve their playoff chances by acquiring CJ Abrams, who has shown impressive performance.
CJ Abrams has a 1.175 OPS, indicating his strong offensive capabilities, which could significantly boost the Pirates' lineup.
Jared Triolo is expected to be swapped in the trade deal for CJ Abrams, as the Pirates look to upgrade their third base position.

Abrams is having a true breakout season, slashing an insane .367/.458/.717/1.175 with three doubles, six home runs, 19 RBI and four stolen bases in 17 games. He could go in over Jared Triolo at third base, and the Pirates could have the left side of their infield solved with Abrams and Konnor Griffin for years to come.
Abrams is also only making $4.2 million this season, and still has two more years of arbitration after. Thatās perfect for a mid-market team like Pittsburgh, and if he continues to dominate, they can offer him a long-term deal.
Hopefully, the Pirates are able to maintain their course, and land Abrams by the deadline to make a World Series push.
