The Pittsburgh Pirates’ bats fell silent against Eduardo Rodríguez and the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 9-0 loss at Chase Field on Tuesday night.
Bottom 1st, 2-0 ARZ: Ketel Marte tripled off Bubba Chandler (1-4) and scored on an Adrian Del Castillo sac fly to center. Later in the inning, another miscommunication between Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz in center resulted in an RBI double of Ildemaro Vargas.
Bottom 6th, 7-0 ARZ: The Diamondbacks (17-17) struck for five runs against Pirates reliever Yohan Ramírez. Gabriel Moreno doubled home a run and later scored on a two-run double from Nolan Arenado. beat a throw home on a Marte chopper to short and capped off the big inning with a sac fly to center.
The final score was 9-0 in favor of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Eduardo Rodríguez was the standout pitcher for the Diamondbacks, leading to the Pirates' defeat.
Miscommunication between Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz in center field led to an RBI double, contributing to the loss.
