PITTSBURGH â Pittsburgh found its next wide receiver.
Day two of the 2026 NFL Draft saw the Pittsburgh Steelers trade up from the 53rd to 47th overall pick. With it, they selected Germie Bernard, a wide receiver from Alabama.
Some expected Pittsburgh to draft a receiver in the first round. Pittsburgh selected tackle Max Iheanachor 21st overall, however, after the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to draft USC's Makai Lemon at 20.

Pittsburgh traded the 53rd, 135th and 237th overall picks to the Indianapolis Colts. In return, it received picks 47 and 249.
The Steelers drafted Iheanachor 21st overall on April 23. They started April 24 with one pick in the second round and three in the third.

A native of Las Vegan, Nevada, Bernard played one season at Michigan State and one at Washington before finishing his college career with two seasons at Alabama. He stands at 6'1, weighs 206 pounds, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds at the NFL Draft combine.

Bernard led Alabama in receptions back-to-back years. He made 64 catches for 862 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025.
In an era where many college athletes compete into their mid-20s, Bernard won't turn 22 years old until Sept. 1. At Washington, he was part of a wide receiver room which included NFL players Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan and Ja'lynn Polk.
