Positive update hints at when Carlos Alcaraz could make his return to tennis

Carlos Alcaraz has remained in the headlines, even though he hasn’t played a match since early last month.

There’s a big hole left in his absence. The sport is a lot duller without his energy and flair.

He’s been dealing with a wrist injury, so taking no chances was the right call. That decision caught some off guard, but given his situation, it wasn’t entirely unexpected.

What has been difficult for many fans to accept is the silence around how long he might be out of action.

Ángel García, who follows tennis closely for COPE and Onda Cero in Spain, gave an update that offers more substance than most recent reports.

New details emerge on Carlos Alcaraz’s injury status

In a brief chat with Cope, García offered a concise yet encouraging update on Carlos Alcaraz’s recovery.

Before this, most fans had come to terms with waiting until Wimbledon to see the Spaniard return to action.

But according to García: “If with conservative treatment, which I know is the case, Carlos is going to recover from the injury and become himself again. I have hope, I’ll say it already. I think he can make it not only to Wimbledon but also to Queen’s before as preparation.”

This comes just days after another player shared details of a private conversation with Alcaraz about his injury.

Why tennis needs Carlos Alcaraz back in action

As mentioned earlier, the sport feels different without him. It’s not just his style of play or shot-making that’s missed, but also the way he pushes Jannik Sinner.

The Italian has already swept up the first four Masters 1000 titles of the year and took last week’s Madrid Open crown with barely a challenge.

And in that final, Sinner blew past world number three Alexander Zverev without any trouble at all.

The way he handled what should be his closest competition was hard to ignore.

And there’s every expectation that Sinner will take the Roland Garros title just as easily.

With Alcaraz out, Sinner doesn’t have a real challenger, and the ATP Tour has lost some of its usual unpredictability.
