Knicks star OG Anunoby is expected to be out 'for a while' due to a right leg injury sustained in Game 2 against the 76ers. He previously missed three weeks this season with a left hamstring injury.
The Knicks might have to brace for being without star wing OG Anunoby “for a while,” according to ESPN NBA analyst Brian Windhorst.
Anunoby exited the Knicks’ 108-102 Game 2 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in the fourth quarter with a right leg injury.
Anunoby missed three weeks earlier this season with a left hamstring injury.
“Maybe it’ll all turn out OK, we’re not going to make any assumptions,” Windhorst said Thursday on “Get Up,” adding that Anunoby will “almost certainly get into an MRI machine today.”
“But there’s a possibility that the Knicks may not have him for a while.”
Asked about the injury after the game, Knicks coach Mike Brown said, “He looked like he was hopping, but I have not talked to medical yet.”
Anunoby went for 24 points and 5 rebounds in Game 2 before exiting with about 2 1/2 minutes remaining.
He has been one of New York’s best players as they have won five straight playoff games and seized a 2-0 lead on the Sixers.

“Karl Towns, you gotta stop fouling,” Windhorst said. “You just gotta stop fouling. He had a brilliant game last night, 20, 10 and 7 [while battling foul trouble]. His statistics are beautiful.

Joel Embiid could return for Game 3 on Friday in Philadelphia after missing Game 2.
The Sixers figure to get a friendly whistle on their home court, and Towns can’t afford to continue to battle foul trouble.
“Towns is committing these fouls and it is not hurting the Knicks yet,” Windhorst said, “but I’m telling you if OG Anunoby is out and they’re gonna need Karl Towns to do more, he has gotta be on the court.”
