Potential landing spots for Kenny Moore after release from Colts

The Indianapolis Colts released cornerback Kenny Moore on Thursday, which puts a good starting cornerback on the open market.

Moore requested a trade earlier this offseason, but it would appear the Colts couldn’t find a suitable partner since then, hence the veteran’s release.

Moore will draw plenty of interest on the open market from cornerback-needy teams.

The veteran has been a good slot cornerback during his career, and on top of his prowess in coverage, he’s a very good run defender, also, as evidenced by his elite 84.4 run defense grade from Pro Football Focus last season.

Here’s a look at three teams we could see make a play for Moore in the coming days.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys had the worst pass defense in the NFL in 2025 and part of the problem was the team’s lack of a solution for the departure of slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis.

“We lost the nickel, and it hurt us more than we thought. The nickel was a serious loss for us. It made a big difference not having [Lewis] out there. And, so, we have got to get better there,” owner Jerry Jones said.

The Cowboys drafted Caleb Downs in the 2026 NFL Draft and the expectation is he’ll play in the slot, but Dallas might want to keep some flexibility with how it deploys its top pick and adding Moore would allow them to do that.
