The Indianapolis Colts have released cornerback Kenny Moore, making him available on the open market. Moore, a skilled slot cornerback and run defender, is expected to attract interest from teams in need of cornerback help.
The Indianapolis Colts released cornerback Kenny Moore on Thursday, which puts a good starting cornerback on the open market.
Moore requested a trade earlier this offseason, but it would appear the Colts couldn’t find a suitable partner since then, hence the veteran’s release.
Moore will draw plenty of interest on the open market from cornerback-needy teams.
The veteran has been a good slot cornerback during his career, and on top of his prowess in coverage, he’s a very good run defender, also, as evidenced by his elite 84.4 run defense grade from Pro Football Focus last season.
Here’s a look at three teams we could see make a play for Moore in the coming days.
The Dallas Cowboys had the worst pass defense in the NFL in 2025 and part of the problem was the team’s lack of a solution for the departure of slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis.
“We lost the nickel, and it hurt us more than we thought. The nickel was a serious loss for us. It made a big difference not having [Lewis] out there. And, so, we have got to get better there,” owner Jerry Jones said.
The Cowboys drafted Caleb Downs in the 2026 NFL Draft and the expectation is he’ll play in the slot, but Dallas might want to keep some flexibility with how it deploys its top pick and adding Moore would allow them to do that.
The Colts released Kenny Moore after failing to find a suitable trade partner following his trade request earlier this offseason.
Several cornerback-needy teams are expected to show interest in signing Kenny Moore after his release from the Colts.

Not to mention, the Cowboys could use more depth all over their secondary and Moore has experience playing on the boundary and at safety.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid
The Chiefs lost two starting cornerbacks this offseason in Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie.
The Chiefs’ current options for the slot cornerback job are Kader Kohou, Chamarri Conner and fourth-round pick Jadon Canady.
The problems with those options are Kohou didn’t play at all last season due to injury, Conner struggled in 2025 and Canady is a total wild card as a rookie.
Moore would provide a clear upgrade for Kansas City on the inside and would greatly aid in the rebuild of a cornerbacks room that now includes first-round pick Mansoor Delane.

The biggest point of emphasis for the Bengals this offseason has been improving its putrid defense and slot cornerback remains a concern.
The team has floated the idea of putting Dax Hill there, but the veteran made it clear he wants to play on the outside.
Seeing as how the Bengals sprung for a massive addition in Dexter Lawrence in a trade with the New York Giants, it’s very possible a significant signing like Moore will be on their radar.
