The Brooklyn Nets secured the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and are considering Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. for selection. Acuff expressed confidence in his abilities despite concerns about his size.
CHICAGO -- The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery with the No. 6 pick, meaning they will miss out on a potential superstar in BYU forward AJ Dybantsa. However, given that this 2026 class is deeper than most drafts, Brooklyn could exit the draft with someone that could be ready to take his game to the next level, potentially Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr.
"Whatever team takes me, I'm good. Getting to know them [the Nets], it was a good experience for sure, just talking to them," Acuff said at the NBA Draft Combine when asked what his meeting with Brooklyn was like. Once Sunday's Lottery concluded, most mock drafts had the Nets being in a position to take Acuff, assuming that the Los Angeles Clippers don't select him with the No. 5 pick.
"I know my game. People got their own opinions. However I feel about my game, that's what it is to me," Acuff said when asked about the NBA seemingly not valuing smaller guards the way it used to if they could bring the kind of offensive punch he brings. "To be honest with you, I don't really care. I think I kind of knew what it was already. However, people are going to always have an opinion no matter what."
Acuff, who was listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds during this past college basketball season, measured in at 6-foot-2 and 186 pounds at the Combine, but also measured with a 6-foot-7 wingspan. Despite having a spectacular freshman season with the Razorbacks, Acuff will have to address the concerns over whether his size will be too much for him to overcome at the next level. Acuff believes he's box office, however.
"Definitely a superstar point guard for sure. Just bring a lot of excitement to any city I go to, and just bring a lot of excitement straight from Day 1," Acuff said of what he envisions of his role at the NBA level. Time will tell if the Nets are looking to add another guard into the mix, but if Acuff is there at No. 6, it may be tough for general manager Sean Marks to pass on a player who projects to be an offensive dynamo that is also supremely confident in himself.

Concerns about Darius Acuff Jr. center around whether his size will be a disadvantage at the next level, given the NBA's evolving view on smaller guards.
