His returned showed the injury was not a long term issue. Even still, once the offseason came, he got his surgery. With the Draft set to begin on Thursday, Banks got a CT scan and the results were positive, showing he is on pace to return in time for June minicamp.
The Raiders have a glaring need at defensive tackle and this 6-6, 327-pounder is solidly on their draft radar. He was a first round caliber talent prior to the injury, which is expected to cause him to slide into Round two, but no farther. That makes him a strong candidate for Las Vegas to select him with their pick at 36 overall.
In fact, Banks is the very player who I have pegged for the Raiders with their pick at 36 overall in my seven-round Raiders mock draft.
Yes, with any injury, there is some risk. But the potential reward Banks presents is higher, especially considering that we are talking about a day two pick, not a top pick.
