The Jacksonville Jaguars will select at pick 56 in the 2026 NFL draft. Predictions suggest they may choose a defensive tackle to address pressing needs in that position.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to make their first selection of the 2026 NFL draft on Day 2 at No. 56 overall. So what will GM James Gladstone do with that pick?
Let's make a prediction.
Trying to hone in on what Gladstone will do is already a challenge. Adding to the difficulty this year is that 23 picks still have to be made before the Jaguars are on the clock, and Jacksonville possesses 11 selections, giving Gladstone the flexibility to go in a variety of different directions. He doesn't necessarily have to address a top need right away.
That said, I'm going to guess that the Jaguars do pick a defensive tackle with their first selection. The need is too pressing to ignore for too long. Depth and competition with only five tackles under contract is needed, as is a more consistent pass rush from this unit.
In addition to that, the board is set up well for the Jaguars to potentially have several options available to them, with only one defensive tackle going in the first round of the draft.
So if the Jaguars are going to take a defensive tackle, which one will they pick?
Using the consensus big board, some of the top options still available are Kayden McDonald (Ohio State), Christen Miller (Georgia), Lee Hunter (Texas Tech), Domonique Orange (Iowa State), and Gracen Halton (Oklahoma).
Expecting a few of those prospects to be off the board when the Jaguars are picking, my guess is that the Jaguars take Domonique Orange.
Orange has been stout against the run, but brings some pass-rush upside with the athleticism he possesses at his size.
