Several former Florida Gators football players are set to make their NFL rookie debuts this fall, with four expected to see significant playing time early in the season. Notably, first-round pick Caleb Banks is likely to debut in Week 1 for the Minnesota Vikings.
Several former Florida Gator standouts and 2026 draftees are expected to earn their first snaps in the National Football League this fall. Florida had seven players taken in April's draft, one in each round â a first for the program.
Now, after their draft-night dreams have been realized and they have signed rookie contracts, the next goal is seeing game action on an NFL Sunday. Of the seven players taken, four have a strong chance to see significant time early in the season. Rebuilding teams will be primed to give young talent a chance to shine, while contenders will be eyeing the missing piece to a Super Bowl run.
Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle and first-round draft pick, Caleb Banks, will likely make his debut in week one when the Vikings host the Green Bay Packers. As a top choice for Brian Flores' defense, Banks should have plenty of opportunities to win the starting nod in training camp.
In Cleveland, Austin Barber may also see action very early on. The season opener for the Browns is against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and considering the franchise traded up for the former Gator, he'll likely get an early look from offensive line coach Mike Bloomgren.
Los Angeles Chargers center Jake Slaughter, a second-round selection, could be moving from his traditional role at center to guard in order to make room for the former Gator in the Chargers rotation. ESPN analyst Field Yates projects Slaughter as an early option for Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers at guard.

The organization signed Tyler Biadasz in free agency to address its need at the center position this offseason. Given the early-round investment, Los Angeles can maximize the upside of its offensive line by giving Slaughter a chance to start right away.
Dallas cornerback Devin Moore was taken by a middle-of-the-pack Cowboys team with an already crowded secondary room. Moore will need to compete for a chance to see the field on special teams, and given his athleticism, he'll get a shot in training camp.
The fourth-round pick posted a 4.50-second 40-yard dash at the combine â this speed should help Moore see the field in limited action this season. The Cowboys' home-opener against the Washington Commanders in Week 2 should see Moore find the field.
Fifth-round pick George Gumbs Jr. was taken No. 156 overall by the Indianapolis Colts. The path for Gumbs to see playing time is in pass-rushing situations. Unleashing Gumbs at home against a struggling Houston Texans offensive line in Week 3 could be a formula for success for Lou Anarumo and the Colts.
