Prep baseball roundup: White Plains, Oxford, JCA, Weaver and Wellborn win area contests

After eight innings of scoreless baseball Tuesday, White Plains scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Cleburne County 4-0 in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Crew Martin scored the game's first run on a bunt single by Logan Laube. Beau Madrigal followed with a two-run single, plating Walker Edwards and Laube. Madrigal scored the final run of the frame on an RBI groundout by Elijah Turner.

Colby Jones pitched the first seven innings for the Wildcats, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out three. Jacob Stamm earned the win, fanning three while allowing just one walk over two innings of relief.

Brayden Maduro and Cael Fulmer recorded Cleburne County's only two hits.

Oxford 6, Pell City 2: Rocco Maniscalco hit a two-run homer and Ayden Noyola added two RBIs to help the Yellow Jackets down the Panthers in Class 6A, Area 11 action.

Marcus Lawler doubled and scored two runs, and Charlie Maniscalco tripled and crossed the plate once.

Zakaree Newton went 2-for-3 with a double and scored one run, and Canaan Whitman doubled and drove in one run.

Noyola earned the win in a complete-game effort, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits and three walks. He recorded two strikeouts.

Austin Daniel and Karter Perry each finished 2-for-3 for Pell City, with Daniel scoring one run. Cason Smith doubled and drove in one run.

The Panthers also got singles from Jacob Burgos, Baylor Fields and Channing Beavers. Beavers drove in one run, and Burgos scored once.

Jacksonville Christian 7, Faith Christian 6: The Thunder scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past the Lions in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

After Anthony Gooch stole home to tie the game, Canaan Dowdey scored the game-winning run on an error by Faith third baseman Tanner Smith.

Gooch led JCA at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases. Bryson Dowdey went 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run and two RBIs. Ethan Compton, Grant Daffron, Jake Burgoon and T.J. Scott scored one run apiece for the Thunder.

Levi Wells led the Lions at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Smith doubled and scored one run. Luke Robertson went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Ried Reynolds and Asher Ray each singled, with Reynolds contributing one run and one RBI.

Weaver 17, Saks 0: Tracen Jones and Landon Free powered the Bearcats past the Wildcats in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Jones went 3-for-4 with a triple, a team-high five RBIs and one run. Free was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Lyric Newman went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, and Tucker Michaels singled and contributed three runs and one RBI.

Connor Hyatt drew three walks and scored a team-high four runs, and Elijah Wills, Peyton Andrews and Braylen Gregory each finished with one run and one RBI.

Zane Hairrell went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Hyatt earned the win, allowing three walks and two hits over five innings. He recorded six strikeouts.

Wellborn 8, Randolph County 2: JD Talley tripled, walked twice, stole three bases and scored three runs to lead the Panthers past the Tigers in Class 3A, Area 9 action.

Ashton Woodard went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs and one RBI, and Tanner Ingram drove in two runs.

Sawyer Thomas doubled and finished with one run and one RBI. Wellborn also got singles from Zach Pressley, Dalton Dillard and Jackson Clark, with Clark driving in one run.

Ingram earned the win, striking out 11 while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over six innings.

Sawyer Hester and Bryant Lee drove in one run apiece for Randolph County. Peyton Pinkard and Dalton Spivey each scored once.

Piedmont 8, Hokes Bluff 4: Ethan Tidwell doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead the Bulldogs past the Eagles.

Piedmont trailed 4-3 late but broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Cole Austin and Eli Johnson both collected two hits and finished with one run and one RBI.

Alex Bass and Carson Cleveland each doubled and drove in one run apiece.

Jack Maye and Nick Glover scored two runs apiece, and Brenan Hurst and Aliandre Wright each crossed the plate once.

Austin earned the win, allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks over six innings of work. He recorded eight strikeouts.

St. Clair County 3, Jacksonville 2: Jacksonville recorded five hits and drew five walks off St. Clair County starting pitcher Ethan Wilson, but the Golden Eagles could only muster two runs in a Class 5A, Area 11 loss.

Sam Parker Wagoner doubled and scored a run for Jacksonville, which also got singles from Luke Richardson, Nick Johnson, Matt Salmon and Cooper Haynes. Richardson scored one run, and Salmon finished with one RBI.

The Saints won without recording a hit. Salmon was the hard-luck loser, allowing three unearned runs on four walks over six innings of work.

Gaston 10, Donoho 3: Sam Montgomery led Donoho at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, but the Falcons dropped the Class 2A, Area 13 contest to the Bulldogs.

Owen Watts, Cooper Christopher and Fisher White scored one run apiece for Donoho.

Lincoln 5, Moody 4: Christian Bean went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Golden Bears past the Blue Devils in Class 5A, Area 11 action. Lincoln also got a two-run double from Mark Darby.

Parks Woodruff scored two runs, and Steele Calhoun, Hudson Manns and Charlie Ramsey scored one run apiece.

JP Sands led Moody at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. Bryant Hardin singled and scored two runs.

Spring Garden 11, Gaylesville 0: Ben Baker and Brady Ruark combined to shut out the Trojans in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

Baker earned the win, fanning nine while allowing just two hits over four scoreless innings. Ruark gave up two singles in the fifth but escaped without allowing a run.

Dawson Ellzey led the Panthers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Ruark went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs and two RBIs.

Joel Hunter finished 2-for-3 with a triple and scored two runs, and Clayton Sadler singled and scored twice.

Baker contributed two runs and one RBI, and Zack Scogin drove in two runs.

Glencoe 3, Pleasant Valley 0: Aiden Johnson struck out 10 and held the Raiders to one hit in a complete-game effort.

Cooper Gomez led the Yellow Jackets at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Jaxon Hollis and Braxton Fortenberry scored one run apiece, and Parker Gulledge finished with one RBI.

Nic Acker recorded Pleasant Valley's lone hit.
