Prep Roundup 5/1: Springboro baseball gets a new hit king

Ben Veletean had a four-hit day with three extra-base hits, becoming the all-time hits leader for Springboro baseball in a 14-4 win against Wayne on Friday, May 1.

Veletean went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, collecting his 128th career hit to set the school record.

Jackson Anderson struck out ten over six innings to earn the win on the mound.

The victory turned around a three-game losing skid for ‘Boro, which improved to 13-4 overall and will travel to Olentangy Liberty next on Saturday, May 2.

Baseball

Centerville 7, Beavercreek 1: Bronson Weng struck out seven to tally the win, Soren Vitas drove in a pair of runs and Centerville improved to 16-2 and 11-0 in the GWOC. The Elks can clinch the conference title outright with a win on Monday, April 4, at Beavercreek.

Troy 9, Greenville 0: With an eighth straight victory Troy jumped to 16-1 overall and 13-1 in the MVL Miami.

Butler 11, Piqua 1: Tate Richardson improved to 8-0, striking out eight to earn the win. Jack Egbert went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Koby Dues tallied two hits with three stolen bases and three runs scored and Butler moved to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the MVL Miami.

Tippecanoe 12, Bethel 0: Cayden McKinney was named the Bob Ross Auto MVP after throwing six shutout innings with nine strikeouts to lead Tipp’ in a win at Day Air Ballpark. Ethan Harney legged out an in-the-park home run and Tippecanoe improved to 15-5.

Kenton Ridge 10, Graham 0: Kenton Ridge ran its win streak to 13 games, improving to 17-2 overall.

Carroll 12, Northridge 6: Joseph Weston batted in three runs and Santiago Perez Gamboa added two RBI to help Carroll turn around an eight-game losing skid.

Oakwood 10, Brookville 0: Josh Tribble drove in four runs off two hits, Briggs Beam tossed five shutout innings with six strikeouts and Oakwood moved to 9-3 in the SWBL Buckeye.

Bellbrook 5, Talawanda 1: The win bumped Bellbrook to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in the SWBL Southwestern.

Monroe 5, Ross 0: Keegan O’Hara and Ethan Ensor combined on the shutout, Bryce Reynolds finished with three hits and two runs scored and Monroe improved to 12-3 overall.

Edgewood 4, Franklin 3: Carson Downie recorded 12 strikeouts in a complete game, Jean Rivera went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Edgewood broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the sixth inning.

Miami East 5, Troy Christian 2: Lincoln Littlejohn singled in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning to help Miami East capture a fifth straight victory.

Twin Valley South 12, Belmont 0: Tyler Wampler struck out ten over five shutout innings for TVS.

Newton 15, Franklin Monroe 2: Austin Tippie knocked a home run and Newton improved to 12-3 overall.

Cedarville 11, Northeastern 1: Cooper Hardy had three hits and five RBI to pace Cedarville.

Coldwater 8, Kalida 2: Hugh Hemmelgarn grabbed the win on the mound and Coldwater won a 15th consecutive game.

Softball

Centerville 12, Beavercreek 2: Chayse Adkins, Caitlyn Belcher, Shelby Cotterman and Alyssa Hillberg each blasted a home run to lead Centerville, which improved to 8-1 in GWOC play.

Springboro 9, Wayne 6: Bella Breen recorded the win in the circle to go with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. Springboro moved to 15-7 overall and 9-2 in the GWOC.

Northmont 14, Miamisburg 0: Kyleigh Gunter pitched five shutout innings and Adee Kautz doubled and drove in three runs to help Northmont jump to 7-3 in the GWOC.

Lakota East 9, Mason 5: Kaleigh Crawford paired a complete game in the circle with a 5-for-5 day at the plate. Maddie Offner added a home run and Lakota East held its lead in the GMC standings with a 12-1 mark, improving to 17-4 overall.

Hamilton 15, Sycamore 1: Peyton Eversole, Sierra Hoyte and Emili Schappacher hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first inning for Hamilton. Schappacher finished with three RBI, tying the career RBI mark for the school at 87.

Kenton Ridge 27, Graham 2: Ivee Rastatter struck out 13 to earn the win in the circle and Kenton Ridge improved to 22-0 overall with a 54th consecutive victory.

Greenville 5, Troy 0: Ella Oswalt fired off a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts, tying a career-high, as Greenville knocked off previously unbeaten Troy to improve to 21-1 overall. The two teams are set to square off again on Monday, April 4.

Tippecanoe 11, Stebbins 1: Charlize McCormick doubled twice on a 4-for-4 day, driving in three runs to lead Tipp. Aubrey Davis picked up the win in the circle along with scoring three times on two hits.

Carroll 6, CHCA 3: Tatum Browning got Carroll back on the winning track with a 15-strikeout performance. Browning and Mazie Gross each doubled and drove in two runs.

Ross 9, Monroe 2: Paige Baker tallied her 100th and 101st career hits along with earning her 10th win of the season in the circle for Ross, which improved to 7-1 in the SWBL Southwestern.

Franklin 7, Edgewood 0: Franklin kept pace with Ross at the top of the SWBL Southwestern with a 7-1 mark.

Bethel 22, Northridge 1: 11 players logged a hit in the Bethel lineup, with Alison Flanagan driving in four runs and Annabelle Adams three to lead the way.

Twin Valley South 16, Belmont 5: Ryliee Caldwell, Holly Hollandsworth and Amelia Suggs each smacked a home run to pace TVS.

Cedarville 5, Northeastern 3: Joscelyn Evans laced the go-ahead bases-clearing double in the sixth inning to help Cedarville improve to 15-3.

West Liberty-Salem 23, Catholic Central 0: Kaylee Blair blasted a home run, finishing with five RBI to lead WLS.
