Logansport baseball team improved to 5-0 with a 9-6 victory over West Lafayette, highlighted by Braylon Ritchie's three-run homer and five RBIs. The team will now host a doubleheader against Norwell at Jim Turner Field.
The Logansport baseball team remained unbeaten on the season with a 9-6 win over West Lafayette on Friday at Jim Turner Field.
Braylon Ritchie hit a three-run home run in the first inning to help the Berries (5-0) jump out to a 4-0 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. He added a single and finished with five RBIs.
Taylor Albright added a single and had a four-RBI night. Hudson Shank had a triple and two runs scored. Bryson Herr had a double and two runs scored. Grady Alexander added a double.
Lucas Jones and Easton Sweet combined for the win. Jones pitched four innings and allowed three runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Sweet pitched the final three innings and allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
The Berries originally were scheduled to travel to Norwell for a doubleheader today but the games have been moved to Turner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
CASS 1, BLACKFORD 0
Kaison Walker-Hipsher fired a two-hit shutout with one walk and 10 strikeouts to lead the Kings past visiting Blackford.
The Kings (5-2) scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth. Anderson Emmons singled to lead off the inning, moved up a base on an error, moved to third on a sac bunt by Julian Davidson and scored on a sac fly by Carson Rowe.
Owen Cotner-Graves had two hits for Cass. Davidson, Rowe, Tyler Foley and Landen Goldsberry each added a hit.
SOFTBALL
LOGANSPORT 10, LAFAYETTE JEFF 0
Gracie Risley and Jentry Strong combined on a one-hit shutout in a five-inning win at Fincher Field.
Risley pitched three hitless innings with eight strikeouts. Strong allowed one hit in two innings with three strikeouts.
Risley homered twice and had four RBIs. Brooklynn Hagerty doubled twice. Adrienne Scott had a triple and single. Bianca Cortez had a triple. Lucy Gordon had a double. Kate Spradling and Aracyn Good each added a hit.
The Berries (7-1) host the Ron Kinnaman Classic today, which gets underway at 10 a.m. today when they face Fishers.
CASTON WINS 2
Caston (5-3) beat Kokomo 13-1 Thursday and Twin Lakes 4-2 Friday.
Hadlie Coffing pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts against Kokomo.
Kylee Logan went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs. Myli Rude had a home run and two RBIs. Lexie Field homered. Audrey Ault had three hits and Ava Russell had two hits.
Natalie Warner pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts against Twin Lakes. Both runs she allowed were unearned.
Coffing had two RBIs with a double and a single. Mia Mersch had an RBI single. Audrey Ault and Warner each had a single. Jordyn Middleton had a sac bunt.
WINAMAC 9, CASS 1
Winamac (6-1) recorded a win at Cass (0-5) Thursday.
Makayla Werner had three hits for the Warriors. Adrianna Hall doubled twice and had two RBIs. Grace Roth had two hits.
Logansport won the game against West Lafayette with a score of 9-6.
Braylon Ritchie led with a three-run home run and five RBIs, while Taylor Albright contributed four RBIs.
Logansport's next game is a doubleheader against Norwell, scheduled for 11 a.m. at Jim Turner Field.
